Okay.

If you have Steam, and you have Windows, and you have about half an hour free time, check out Dr.Langeskov, The Tiger, and The Terribly Cursed Emerald: A Whirlwind Heist.

It is free, involves tigers and grappling hooks and possibly a ghost?, and you will laugh. Totally worth it.
Ah yes! I just played through it and it was unexpected and hilarious! There is a Mac version too btw.

Putting Undertale songs on the mp3 player when going for a run is either a really good or a really bad idea, since you'll never feel like stopping even on a chilly day.

Recommendation duly noted! Although I'm not running to the end of the Earth no way, the sea's a bit far from where I live (although it would be mostly downhill)(hmmm).

Here's a cute and interesting game coming out tomorrow *looks at clock* I mean today.

It's a puzzle game where you play as Yarny, a ball of yarn that comes to life. It seems to be getting nice reviews.
Pretentious? Moi?

Has anybody else here ever played Myst? It's still probably my favorite game.

I have! Riven was good too. Never finished either though, I'm terrible at puzzles. :P

Me too, but I love the worldbuilding and overall atmosphere, plus the fact that there aren't any NPCs to talk to. You have to make sense of everything entirely on your own.

I've been playing Valkyria Chronicles's PC port recently. It looks like a weird child of X-COM, Call of Duty and all Japanese RPGs in existence, but it's surprisingly good. It features such things as:

  • Tactical squad member matchmaking;
  • The main character talking to a fish in the first 5 minutes of the game;
  • Phoenix Wright's school of hand movements during dialogues;
  • Standard issue military anime hair... in 1936;
  • Standard issue military pimped-out dresses... in 1936;
  • Dying from fear of pointy things;
  • Androgynous 14 year old sniper taking a tank shell to their baby face... and surviving;
  • Magical girl antagonist that escaped from a different anime;
  • Concentration camps;
  • Genocide;
  • Wunderwaffen out of Hideo Kojima's nightmares;
  • Actually good tactical combat.
  • PC controls that aren't awful... most of the time.

Wow, that looks cool! Speaking of Phoenix Wright, is Ace Attorney any good? I keep hearing about it but have never played.

Just popping a recommendation here for a game called Life is Strange. It's an episodic adventure game (from the same studio that made Remember Me if that sells it to anyone) about two teenagers discovering something's seriously amiss in their sleepy Oregon hometown. I think the best way I could describe it is like a cross between Donnie Darko, Twin Peaks and Gravity Falls.
I don't want to go into too much detail as I think this is a game that is best experienced all but blind, but I will say there's a strong central mechanic based around time travel and the writing and voice acting are both absolutely top-notch (although the plot wavers in places and listening to a French development team trying to write modern American slang can get a bit awkward). I finished it last week and I'm still reeling a little bit from it...

I got Skyrim about a month ago. I am now about knee-deep in addiction, and in the theme I decided to re-write the lyrics of "The Dragonborn Comes", one of the songs that bards can sing when you pay them. (Because frankly I find the base song quite boring) Here is the end result:

Spoiler: Lyrics • show

The Dragonborn comes,
The Dragonborn comes,
Across the land,
The Dragonborn comes,
With Thuum in his voice,      [Chorus]
And sword in his hand,
The Dragonborn comes,
The Dragonborn comes.

Black wings in the sky,
Fire rains down,
Alduin,
The bane of kings,

[Chorus]

Ye do not fear of Alduin,
Fiery breath on his tongue,
Powerful Dovah he is.

[Chorus]

When the two meet,
The power of the voice,
will guide them to,
Oblivion.

Black wings over mountains,
Alduin,
Fights the Dohvakiin,
To destroy the world,
with his power,
that is his goal,

[Chorus]

Steal the power of Alduin,
Dragon soul of Alduin,
The power of the great dragon,
is taken by the Dohvakiin.

[Chorus]

Ooh, very nice! The only Elder Scrolls game I've played is Oblivion, how do you think Skyrim compares?

I just finished playing Undertale and I'm not ok. Excuse me, I'm going to have to lie down a bit and then spend some time painting a certain red-headed captain who's not Sigrun. Who gave this game a permission to give me all these feelings?!
