The first two acts of The Long Dark's story mode were released today! :D

I'm about 2 chapters into act one now, it's awesome so far.

Finished "Monochroma", another disappointing LIMBO/INSIDE clone. This one suffers from very wooden and poor quality animation of the characters, as well as repetitive, uninspired, and often not very ambiance-fitting music. Gameplay was a bit approximative too.

As a redeeming feature, it lasts longer than most games in that genre (as in, there's more game content, not as in artificial length through difficulty).

Some people have said LIMBO and INSIDE were lazy game design, but you just have to play some of the less successful clones of these games to see how much work and care was actually put in the original. I hope studio Playdead release another game soon.

I remember it being First Person. Is that still the case?

I don't play much right now because master's thesis paired with bad conscience, but some evenings I play the co-op of Divinity Original sin with a friend. On another playthrough I almost finished the game, but it's more fun with friend. Before I bought it I thought it were a bad game because the screens just didn't do anything for me. Somehow I ended up with it. And love it. The Divinity Games have great humor.

The gameplay is in first person, yeah. But in the story mode there's 3rd person cutscenes with really nice-looking hand-drawn animations of the characters! And in the story there's actually other people as well, not just you alone in the wilderness. It's a lot of fun.

Thanks for clearing this up. Unfortunately I have this weird quirk that I really cannot play in first person. It disqualifies a game immediately for me. (I know this is irrational and that I lose a few outstanding games like Deus Ex that way...) The game looks really interesting, though. :)

Pardon my interruption, but I just noticed that I've yet to mention The Sexy Brutale in this thread. I just started playing it today (after buying it during the summer sale) and so far I'm enjoying it.

It's a murder mystery adventure game of sorts. As a priest by the name of Lafcadio Boone, you walk through the halls of the Sexy Brutale casino mansion with two goals in mind: To prevent the murder of every guest attending the masquerade ball taking place, and to do so without being noticed. Of course, this masquerade ball is trapped in a time loop, so this shouldn't be too hard, right?

thimbleweed park is the last game i played.... i'm a sucker for old-school point&click games even though i'm really bad at them and have to start consulting hint guides once the puzzles start getting really difficult

I just played the first episode of "Life is Strange: Before the Storm", and now I can with certainty say that it’s sooo nice to be back in Arcadia Bay.

It still has the same charm to it that made the original game so good, and you just still want to go around and talk to everyone to hear all the dialog options. Most importantly Chloe very much feels like a younger version of the same Chloe we met in episode one of Life is Strange, despite the new voice actor (who is doing a fine job).

So in short, I really loved the first Life is Strange and Before the Storm also seems really really good (so far) and a worthy extension of the series, can’t wait to play the next episode.

Oh, I had forgotten about it! I'll have to check that out tonight.

I just got to the third (and last from what I know) ending of Layers of Fear, over a year after a recommendation from my then-significant other, and finishing it with two other results. (And in the meantime I have already played LoF: Inheritance as well, it was disappointing)
I don't know if I'm more irritated, sad or just mildly amused.

Yes, even though Before the Storm itself will be two episodes shorter than the original the episodes still feel just as long (and good) as the ones in the original.
