I went to the presentation in Victoria B.C. - It was a splendid evening, to say the least. It was held at the music conservatory, which is a converted church, so the music sounded awesome and the atmosphere was amazing.Oh, I think I saw pictures from there! Or, of the church at least.

You met Carlos?? I just want to know...I can confirm that Carlos does indeed have perfect hair and is basically an all-around great human being.
...was his hair perfect?
I'm a few eps behind, but have them on my phone, ready to be listened to!Yeah, I was up like two hours before the tickets went on sale, refreshing like the wind XD I'm kind of sad that they didn't go to Canada on this most recent tour, hopefully they'll come back soon!
I was thinking of trying to get tickets to the Copenhagen show, but I think they sold out pretty quickly, and I didn't feel like going on my own.
I just started listening to this, actually! I'm only on like the sixth episode, but I love it! I keep laughing at stuff and when I try to describe it my family looks at me like I'm crazy. It's great. XDI know! It's so hard to explain what makes it great without like, forcing people to listen. I've tried, and it only seems to work some of the time.

I am by no means caught up, but just want to say that the Apache Tracker is my favorite character. His stoic, heroic, semi-offensive Native American Russian persona places him high in the ranks for me! Also, his heroic sacrifice at the bowling alley keeps him solidly in the top spot.As someone who speaks Russian, it wasn't really a surprise for me :)
A cool thing to do is to look up all of his lines, only translated. I was surprised a lot by what he was actually saying.
Thanks to everyone who pointed me to this! I just listened to the first episode and am now pondering if I can delay my poor neglected responsibilities for another twenty minutes...Of course you can, Fen Shen! There's 66 more episodes to go through! It only gets better after the first episode, trust me. Cecil kind of settles into his character more and we get to know him a little better, too.
The creepy but calm atmosphere is really fascinating and there are so many creative ideas in these "announcements".
Hehe, I already listened to the next two episodes while doing the dishes and cooking. I guess I'll volunteer for more household tasks in the next days... ;DWhen I started listening I was working at this job where there was a lot of very repetitive computer things involved, and thankfully the supervisors didn't care at all if people listened to music or whatever, so I caught up really fast by listening through the episodes at work.
I'm curious, those of you in Europe, how did you find listening to WTNV as a non-native English speaker? (Technically I should count myself in that group also, but I live in an english-speaking country so I feel like it's a bit different? Sorry if I've offended anyone with this question...)I find it pretty easy, BUT as a scandinavian I'm more than used to everything on TV Not Being Dubbed. I mean, it's definitely easier for me to catch podcast english than, say, the danish lecturer......... or even a lot of norwegian people with not-even-that-thick dialects.............
I know there's a lot of play or words and figurative language and references to stuff, so I wonder how that translates to a different culture
This is timely.Ooooh how was it? Please tell us EVERYTHING.
Went to the live show in Oakland last night. XD But my just-turned 16yo is the big fan here. She was starry-eyed through the whole thing.

how did you find listening to WTNV as a non-native English speaker? The narrator is easy enough to understand for me because he is always speaking so calmly and clearly. I guess I miss some of the references, but that doesn't diminish the fun. I'm always looking for good ways to keep up my English listening comprehension. After watching three series of Downton Abbey, it is fun to listen to some American English as a change ;)

It was great to see everyone in person! I asked my daughter what she liked and she went starry-eyed again and basically retold the whole show to me. I know they are releasing it online later so I don't want to say too much.Haha, that's an interesting thing to be impressed by!
We were both impressed with the skinnyness of Carlos' jeans though. Don't even know how he got those on, dang. And the part where he and Cecil were talking was flipping adorable.
Cecil and Carlos were a big draw for me in the beginning, I definitely can say I came into the fandom for them and stayed for... well, everything else.
Just finished it. Did not expect that end.Spoiler: show
So many questions once you start thinking about it or see your tumblr dash…
Spoiler: show
I found this on TV Tropes:Spoiler: show

TV Tropes for the rescue! (not gonna go there now, I'll forget to eat again… That side is a black hole, I swear.)Spoiler: show
Solo sucked me into WTNV, so I'm now a fan. Only just finished episode 13, so it will probably take me a while to catch up.*evil laughter*
*evil laughter*
I seem to suck you into a lot of things, though... >_>;;;
Yay more Night Vale fans! My friend and I were spectulating the other day about how Night Vale would exist in the world of SSSS.Well the 3rd anniversary of the show is coming up in... *checks calendar* exactly a month, and you know they always have HUGE GIANT WHAM STUFF happening on the anniversary episodes - I have a feeling that whatever will happen this year will somehow involve
I just listened to yesterday's episode (68)Spoiler: show

HOW AM I ONLY JUST NOW FINDING THIS THREAD?!
:D
I'm so far beyond the current WTNV episodes but I have a great love for it and need to catch up soon. And it turns out Cecil Baldwin is apparently a friend of a friend so there's a possibility that I could encounter him irl one day. It happened that I was in the same city as a live show but was unable to attend, because I was there to do some choral music and was in rehearsal during the show.
Also, when I was in New York City they did a live show in my hometown. :') We just traded places, I suppose.
HOW AM I ONLY JUST NOW FINDING THIS THREAD?!
Personally, my favorite bits were some of the earlier episodes, a bit before Strexcorp. Decent sound quality, and very, very creepy. Triptych, though, shows promise that Nightvale can remain just as creepy 70 or so episodes in.
I just listened to Episode 83 (One Normal Town) and I think it might have been inspired by actual current events. I don't know how prevalent the European refugee crisis is in news and discussions in the US. But in our current situation, for me it felt like it was directly written in that regard.
"When confronted with someone whose “normal” is not our “normal,” we are forced to confront the most frightening prospect of all: that there is no such thing as “normal.” Just the accidental cultural moment we happened to be born into, a cultural happenstance that never existed before, and will never exist again." (Citation from the transcription (http://cecilspeaks.tumblr.com/post/140263963116/episode-83-one-normal-town))
Now I'm trying hard to think of other examples in which WTNV took up a political position somehow, but can't really fix an episode.
Do you remember any?
Also, the show's absolute refusal to exclude POC and LGBTQ characters. They've always been a very inclusive show, you know? I wouldn't be surprised if there are things we're both missing about the Night Vale team's politics
Night Vale itself probably has a reason for why they don't have the usual American baggage for LGBT people. Kinda sad when a town of Eldritch Abomination is more accepting than your own. :P
Also, refresh my memory on what POC means?
Also, the show's absolute refusal to exclude POC and LGBTQ characters. They've always been a very inclusive show, you know? That is a good point, of course this is also a political statement in some way.
